Training We Provide
- Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP): This one-day workshop will provide school staff with both the conceptual framework and everyday skills to conduct an effective FBA. A functional assessment is the foundation for developing any effective behavioral intervention as the identification of motivating variables is critical. This workshop includes a brief review of behavioral studies, the elements of a good FBA, and case studies for practical application. Follow-up case consultation is highly recommended to assist trainees with skills acquired during the FBA/BIP workshop.
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA): This training is for school district staff that are interested in beginning an ABA program. The length of this training can vary from a minimum of a 3-day workshop (introductory) to advanced training in behavior analysis. The focus of our intervention program involves Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior as a conceptual framework. We provide extensive training in the foundations of the science, the conceptual framework, data collection, and hands-on learning opportunities for trainees (e.g., errorless teaching procedures, fading prompts, providing differential reinforcement).
We also provide training for home-based programs, including BabyNet referrals. Parents and therapists receive comprehensive training in behavior analysis as a science, along with associated teaching procedures and data collection. The home-based ABA program is developed based on the Assessment of Basic Language and Learner Skills (ABLLS) to accurately identify skills that are in need of development. Our company strongly recommends that families receive frequent ongoing program evaluation and training from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) once the program is initiated.
- Professional Crisis Management (PCM): This training was developed by a BCBA for use by parents, educators, and human service providers whose primary focus is to go beyond the first stage in crisis management training. PCM is an advanced system of Crisis Prevention, Crisis De-escalation, Crisis Intervention, and Post-Crisis Intervention. PCM utilizes "hands on" competency-based training and written tests to certify that all individuals who receive instruction in PCM reach the highest level of skill acquisition. The system focuses on both non-physical and physical assistance procedures that are safe, effective, and adhere to a least restrictive model of intervention. Four levels of certification are available, and training workshops range from a 6-hour one day course (Basic Practitioner) to a 22-hour advance training (Practitioner Level 2).
